Colored Anti-Slip Road Treatment Application Guide

1. Pre-Application Preparation

  • Technical & Material Planning: Organize all technical specifications, safety protocols, and material staging prior to starting work.
  • Tools & Equipment Setup: Prepare essential tools, including digital scales, measuring containers, calculators, mixing buckets, brooms, masking tape, squeegees, scrapers, and application brushes.
  • Machinery Inspection: Ensure power sources, mechanical sprayers, mixers, and spreading equipment are in optimal working condition to guarantee continuous, uninterrupted application.

2. Substrate & Surface Preparation

  • Structural Check: Inspect the base surface to verify that it is structurally sound, level, compact, and free of loose debris.
  • Surface Repair: Clear weathered layers, flaking asphalt, or deteriorated concrete. Pre-fill and level any cracks, potholes, or surface depressions to ensure a flat, uniform substrate.
  • Degreasing & Cleaning: Remove oil stains, grease, and industrial residues using appropriate cleaning/degreasing agents. Thoroughly wash the area with clean water afterwards.
  • Dust & Debris Removal: Sweep away all dust, sand, and loose materials. Use high-pressure air blowers for deep cleaning if necessary.
  • Moisture Control: Ensure the surface is completely dry before proceeding. For damp or high-moisture substrates, use hot compressed air (HCA) lances to thoroughly dry the surface.

3. Application Procedure

  1. Area Measurement & Masking:
    • Measure the application area precisely to calculate the exact amount of resin binder required.
    • Set up edge borders or demarcation lines using kraft paper or heavy-duty masking tape in accordance with project design plans. This prevents color bleeding when laying adjacent sections of different colors.
  2. Accurate Mixing Ratio:
    • Designate a dedicated technician for material batching.
    • Weigh Part A : Part B strictly at a 4 : 1 ratio by weight (do not estimate).
  3. Resin Mixing:
    • Mechanically mix Part A for 30 seconds before adding Part B. (Note: If adding color pigments, disperse with a high-speed mixer for 2–3 minutes until uniform).
    • Pour Part B into Part A and mix continuously for 1–2 minutes until the compound is completely homogeneous.
  4. Resin Spreading:
    • 3 mm – 5 mm Ceramic Aggregates: Resin Binder: 2.5 kg/m² | Aggregates: 5.0 kg/m²
    • 1 mm – 3 mm Ceramic Aggregates: Resin Binder: 2.0 kg/m² | Aggregates: 3.0 kg/m²
    • Pour the mixed resin binder immediately onto the working surface and spread it evenly using a notched squeegee or scraper. (Work quickly and accurately, as the initial setting reaction starts rapidly).
    • Application Rates:
  5. Aggregate Broadcasting:
    • Evenly broadcast/broadcast-scatter the wear-resistant ceramic friction aggregates over the wet binder layer until fully saturated.
  6. Tape Removal:
    • Peel off boundary masking tape within approximately 10 minutes of application. (Adjust timing based on ambient temperature: removing too early causes resin runoff; removing too late risks cured resin tearing).
  7. Excess Aggregate Recovery:
    • Once the binder has fully cured, sweep and collect all loose, excess aggregates from the surface.

4. Precautions & Application Notes

  • Weather & Temperature Limits: Do not apply during rain, snow, high relative humidity, or on damp surfaces. The optimal ambient and surface temperature for application is between 15°C and 35°C (59°F – 95°F).
  • Application Direction: Resin spreading and aggregate broadcasting should be executed in coordinated succession, working progressively outward/backward from the inner area to avoid stepping on wet surfaces.
  • Pot Life: The working pot life of the mixed resin is 5 to 10 minutes. All mixed material must be applied immediately within this window.
  • Curing & Traffic Release: Allow a curing period of 8 to 12 hours post-installation. Keep the site strictly closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic during this curing period.
  • Site Safety: Open flames and ignition sources are strictly prohibited in the application area. Ensure adequate ventilation at all times.
  • Recoating Window: If a secondary coat or touch-up is required, apply promptly to prevent contamination of the inter-layer surface.
